Experienced Head of DevOps and former Lead SRE Engineer with a strong track record of building and maintaining resilient, scalable infrastructure in microservice-oriented environments. A people manager and active participant in on-call rotations, with a passion for platform stability, developer experience, and continuous improvement.
Started out as Technical Operations Lead at Celtech Software, sole front-line support for a base of around seven customers across IBM iSeries (AS/400), Linux, and Windows Server environments, including driver and JavaPOS integration work for new POS peripherals. Joined Xanadu Consultancy in 2018 as an SRE, progressing through Lead SRE Engineer to Head of DevOps. Holds a Computer Science degree from University College Cork.
Skilled across the full DevOps and Platform Engineering toolchain — containerisation and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, load balancing with HAProxy and Nginx, observability with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Zabbix, and messaging with RabbitMQ. Proficient in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Maven, and scripting in Bash, Python, and Groovy.
Experienced with data platforms including Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Greenplum, and CloudberryDB. Hands-on with AWS services including ECS, EKS, ECR, and CodeArtifact, with deep Linux administration experience on Ubuntu and Debian.
An avid self-hoster, I run my own home infrastructure — applying the same engineering rigour to my personal lab as I do in production.
